- KILLIAN -
You may wonder what my intentions were when I left Hazel alone for nearly two weeks.
I had every reason not to but did so regardless. Liam needed . Natalie needed . We are one step closer to uncovering the mystery behind my parent’s death. Just knowing who killed them isn’t the only thing involved now that certain things have been unfolded.
For starters, my father was owing. Not anything of monetary value, but sothing dire that would cost his life. The weird part about that is his signature was forged so neither he nor my mother were aware of that contract. Not even after death. Every single trace of whoever and whatever could’ve conspired against them had been wiped out long before we were aware of its existence and it just brings us back to zero. Whoever is the mastermind behind this is ssing with us on purpose and giving us clues little by little and I cannot begin to describe how sickening that is.
Infuriatingly sickening and it makes my hand itch to kill soone even more. I take a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. The last thing I want during this drive frustration and the thought of the things I didn’t do during my business trip.
Like erasing the asshole responsible for my parents’ death from existence. My fist clench and my other hand dips in my pocket to play with my zippo.
I was tempted to tornt the murderer but if I succumbed into the urge, especially as heightened as it was, I would’ve spent much longer than I intended to and I wanted to et Hazel before her exams. I’m her biggest supporter.
So despite leaving her alone, in a way, I left two n to guide her every move from a distance. Just so she feels comfortable and unsuspicious of her environnt while carrying on her day to day activities. Owen is alive and he’s in the sa state she’s in.
There couldn’t be anything but bad news to co out of that.
I let out an exhale as I pinch the bridge of my nose. I’m in my suv, sat in the back seat as my driver drives to et her.
My n will give a full report of their duties when I arrive, both which can be deed aningless and dire. I also hope Hazel spent her ti in my ho as well. Every staff of mine is well skilled in martial arts. That would have left her protected if anything were to occur, which is why I suggested it before leaving.
I sigh. Is it the best idea to pick Hazel up first? What if sothing unexpected awaits at ho? I can’t be too cautious knowing Owen lives. For all I know, he could’ve tailed my every move since the mont I entered my first flight.
“Orion,” I call, referring to the driver. “Turn around. Take ho, I need to drop so stuff off.”
“Yes boss.” He says, keeping his tone formal. A smirk forms on my face as I breathe a sigh.
“When soone else other than gets in the car, drop the formality. Consider a friendly random person who ordered a lift, understood ?” I say to him.
“Clearly.” He responds.
Referring to as ‘boss’ might be too much and leave too many hints. Hazel might be idle but a person’s naivety can surely only last for a short while, no matter how long that while takes. I let my head fall backwards to rest on the backseat, closing my eyes.
Natalie was right. This is getting too dangerous and even I am aware that this isn’t even the half of it. S is scheming sothing behind our backs and we’d be wiser to have a counter plan if we want to bend our way out of it unscathed rather than trying to know what he’s planning.
Not knowing They’s identity has proven to be quite unfavourable. There’s no trace, not even with the subtle clues They gave to when we had our first call when I moved here. The ti he let it slip that S is not just one person but a group.
[ They is S ]
Now, S’s security is tight, he’s smart, I must hand They that, but for the remaining mbers in the group? Not so much.
They knows all their identities and schedules but neither of them are aware of even the minutest detail about They, not even They’s hair colour. Don’t get wrong, I don’t know shit about They either, but Liam has been doing so digging and he has gotten a lead on one of They’s associates, although almost a dead end, the lead is worth following. And that was the perfect pea in the sea to many uncertainties.
I groan. I have so much to do yet so little ti and even now, with my murderous intent being on a low, I’m starting to wonder, with this new discovery of a contract father intendedly signed, if the person we know to have killed our parents was just paid to get the job done or was actively involved in this fraudulent sche.
I let out an exhale. Whichever it is, this will turn out to be heavily interesting. Satisfiably so.
*
I can sll it.
My brows narrows as my nose catches on a pungent scent the mont I got out of my car.
Since the mont the car door was open for and I stepped out, the acrid sll of sothing vile was pungent in my nose. A sll I am accustod to very well. Rotten human flesh.
What in the actual f-
“Orion, co here.” I summon, walking towards the area the sll is the most miasmic. My face can’t hide my irritation the mont my eyes rests on the cause of the odour.
Just in the bush of my gardens, insects gather around unhidden body parts. The image of the faces of the people imdiately makes my eyes widen for a second. My face suddenly becos bland as a thought fazes my mind.
Owen.
It can’t be anyone else but him. Where the heck are my maids and why on earth did nobody clear this up before my arrival?!
The stench is aggravating. Unbelievably disgusting, not to talk of the people these are. . .
These people were not only my n but were my friends. My jaw tightens. We built a family in our empire together since I could rember.
“Take care of the bodies, Orion.” I say to him. He’s been standing by my side since the ti I called him. I don’t know if he caught a guess on who these bodies belong to but it’ll be best if he doesn’t. “Book a session with embalrs and mortuary costologists. We’ll be having a funeral soon.” My fists clench.
These are the people I sent to watch over Hazel.
Fuckkkkk!!
My mind is filled with unanswered questions while having a severe ltdown.
I feel so dense. I never should’ve left. I should’ve requested for Liam’s visit instead. These n would still be alive if I did this. What on earth was I thinking back then when I booked my ticket? I look away, arching my head to the sky while angling my fingers over my face. I feel down. All of a sudden, sadness washes over .
I am smarter than this, why on earth did I not think this through?
“Also phone their relatives.” I say to Orion, dragging my sentence. “I’ll pay a visit to them personally.” This is so difficult to co to terms with. What’s worse is. . . I can’t even look at them. Whoever killed them left their bodies intact so I see them that way and take care of it. The person wanted the realisation to hurt deeper than uncovering the news.
This is such an Owen thing to do. This whole thing reeks of him. But why? What was the point?
I spoke with Hazel this morning and nothing seed out of the ordinary. I doubt he was in contact with her while I was gone, so was this all for show? Why the fuck did he murder innocent people?! For what cause exactly?!
To pass a ssage? Certainly there are other ways to do that.
I slowly turn, walking away from the bush. I’ll have to get rid of that whole flower bush in case of infection but that’s the least of my worries. What would’ve happened if I t Hazel first and we ca here together?
I don’t even want to imagine how horrified she would’ve been by the sight of this.
I dip my hand inside my pocket to grab my phone. The first person I call is Owen.
He picked imdiately. “Oh good, you’re back and you called. aning you saw my gift.”
He sounds so peaceful. Like he didn’t do anything wrong. Also, he just attested to being responsible for their death.
“I have just one question.” I pause to catch my breath. My eyes are watery. These people were more than just my n. I built a personal relationship beyond boss-worker kind with them, so this hurts to a very delicate degree. “Why?” I finally ask.
“Because I can.” He says. A laugh echoes from the other end. He thinks this is funny?. . . “Actually no, I won’t beat around the bush. Because you hurt Asami. She would’ve been dead if it weren’t for . Consider this a warning.”
The call ends. I can hear the beep as he cut the call. The hand holding my phone slowly withdraws from the side of my face. Owen is in contact with Asami and this can only an one thing; he’s working with her. aning he collaborated with S.
Dealing with Asami was one thing, but with Owen here, my involvent with Hazel has beco more dire than it should. I have to be careful. It’s a must this ti.
A need in fact.
